why SOULKIND c.i.c?
It is estimated that 70% of people experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime, and 20% of those who experienced trauma, will develop PTSD or complex C-PTSD. It is also estimated that in a given year around 13 million people will have PTSD.
Trauma can challenge our ideas of how the world works and who we are as a person. This disruption can have a ripple effect on all corners of our life, from our plans for the future to our physical health, even the relationship with our own body.
Healing from such a profound change often takes time as recovery from trauma is not linear, let alone easy. You will most likely encounter set-backs along the way, and at times feel uncertainty as to where you are heading, let alone how to get there. But all of this is natural.
And even for those not directly involved, exposure to someone else’s trauma, or vicarious trauma, can also have a significant impact on mental wellbeing. If not dealt with effectively, this can also be a pathway to PTSD, yet it is still an incredibly misunderstood, often misdiagnosed and stigmatised condition.
Our mission…
…is to empower individuals who have experienced physical or mental trauma, or challenging life events, to rediscover their purpose through our transformative beneficiary programme, live speaker events and story-telling community.
